The year I became a 'writer'

Right from my childhood I always had a passion towards story telling. I used to spend at least an hour a day thinking about various stories that I keep framing in my mind. At that age I did not know how to transform my thoughts into action. Frankly speaking, I did not get any motivation or encouragement from people during those days. I am very fond of narrating stories to people and make them entertain for a certain period of time. Back at school, whenever I was about to narrate a story to my friends they would reply 'please I have no patience for this' or they would say 'that's so boring'. Boring? I mean without even listening to it? Ridiculous, isn't it? I've experienced a lot like this. Just because me being a silent, punctual, rank holder doesn't mean that I am not capable of entertaining people. The same thing repeated during my college days where I experienced the weird 4 years of my life. There was no motivation at college and trust me it was worse than my school. Being an engineering college, staffs aim at 100% results and students doesn't even care because engineering failed to interest everyone. Again, being a silent, punctual, and a decent academic record holder at college doesn't make me a nerd. When people spent their quality time on flirting with girls, I utilized that quality time in my life to improve my creativity. My brain did not stop thinking. I kept on framing stories every now and then, but still I longed for a chance to narrate something to someone. But towards the end of my college days I had a lifetime chance of narrating a story to one of the guy who was supposed to be the rank holder of the class. I should thank him a lot because it was a dream come true for me as I was very much longing to narrate something to someone right from my school days.

Enough of complaining, now let me explain you how 2013 benefited me. I could say that 2013 was the most regretful year yet it was outstanding. Regretful for some personal reasons and the outstanding fact was - it was the year I became a 'writer'. Even though I began writing stories right after my college days, I officially became a 'writer' with this blog. I created this blog in the month of March and I began to gain readers from the month of June. In the month of August, I received my first Liebster Award from Vashti, who is one of the regular visitors of my blog. Also, in the month of August, for the first time my post Science and Religion interlinked got selected as best weekend reads by BlogAdda. In the month of September, Meera Rat, a very good friend and a regular reader of my blog, shared Creative Blogger Award with me. Again, in the month of September, my short story titled Misfortune got published in Storizen e-magazine. I should thank Meera for introducing me to the magazine, thank you Rat. Once again, in the month of September, my post Voice of Society got selected as best weekend reads by BlogAdda. Looks like September is one lucky month for me and indeed it should be as my mom's birthday falls on the same month. October was bit passive for me but I had one post Things need to change... for Good selected as Tangy Tuesday Picks by BlogAdda. November did not work out well for me as I had to tackle with some personal issues and hence I wasn't able to concentrate on my blog. But December came to console me with three of my posts getting selected in a row as WOW! posts by BlogAdda. That was a terrific way of regaining my lost pace. The year 2013 benefited me a lot when it comes to blogging. From a story teller I got transformed into a writer by writing not only short stories but also few articles.

Apart from being a writer, the year 2013 exposed the other side of me - 'the cook'. The year transformed me from an 'average' cook to an 'excellent' cook (certified by my mom). Also, the year exposed yet another personality of me - 'the photographer'.

With so many good things in hands and equal amounts of regrets, the year benefited me a lot by uplifting the level of my creativity. I wave a big goodbye to 2013 with a smile because nothing better than a smile could do wonders. You might be wondering why am I writing this two days post new year's day? Because I kept scratching my head what to write for the past two days and finally overcame my writer's block with this post. Hope you all enjoyed reading this and I wish you all positives in this year 2014.

P.S: I don't take 'resolution' on the new year's day when I am capable of making 'revolution'.

Oh I had not realised, Ashwin, that you began blogging the same month I did!! It is a wonderful process indeed. Keep it going - no doubt of the best ways to see where that is, is to review the path so far. Nicely done. YAM xx
